The Fayette Campus of Bevill State Community College serves approximately 1,000 students each semester with two-year academic and technical degrees available in many programs. Within one hour of Lamar county is The University of North Alabama, in Florence well-known as a teachers and music college, and a branch of The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) is located in Tupelo, Mississippi.
